Joshua 7:6 “And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.”
Joshua 7:10-16 “And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put iteven among their own stuff. Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you. Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you. In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man. And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel. So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:”
This passage may be about a man sinning and what God’s punishment for that was, but listen, pay attention, pray and meditate on the Word of God. God is telling Joshua not to be down, not to mope and be discouraged which is doing no good. God is telling him to get up, you have work to do. I am not finished with you. That message is for all of us. God never changes. What was for them back then can be applied to our lives today.
Now I don’t care what you have done or what situations you find yourself in. God may be a just and holy God, but he is also a loving and longsuffering God. If you are his child, he is not done with you yet. I don’t care what your status is in life, you could be a child, young adult, senior saint or even on your death bed. God is not done with you yet. Are you breathing with a beating heart? You’re work here on Earth is not finished. There is always something more you can do. You can pray, you can share the gospel, you can smile at someone having a hard day. You can encourage someone. There is plenty of work to be done for the Lord. Don’t grow weary and quit. Don’t think you have met your quota. There is always someone out there that has not heard the gospel.
Look, I have had plenty of times in my life that I wanted to give up, and I don’t just mean, give up at a job or give up serving God or give up on a person; I mean give up on life in general. I was lost and was not grounded on the solid rock.
Now adding a quick not right here. Suicide is NEVER, the answer. Please get professional help if you feel that way or if you know someone in that situation.
As I was saying, I attempted to end it all and I’m here today speaking to you because God was not done with me. I didn’t know, but God had and has a purpose for my life. He has a purpose for all our lives.
Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
God wants what is best for us.
2 Peter 3:9 says “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
His desire, is that we all choose to follow him and be saved. He wants none of us to die and spend eternity in hell, separated from him forever, dying again and again, forever in eternal torment.
I urge you brothers and sisters and all listening to stick it out. Now, don’t stick it out with people as people will fail you. Stick it out with God. God won’t ever fail you.
Jeremiah 17:5 says “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”
Romans 13:14 says “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
So, how are you to put on the Lord Jesus? Well first you must be a saved born again child of God, then you need to be grounded in his word. You need to be planted in the living water.
Psalms 1:3 says “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
When you hide the Word of God in your heart, studying it daily and staying in constant prayer, you’re walk with Christ will grow, those spiritual roots will grow deep in the living water. Trees planted with deep roots can’t be knocked over by the heavy winds. And people with roots grounded in the solid rock, the living water, the friend that sticks closer than a brother, our Lord Jesus Christ, will NOT be blown by every gust of trials and temptations.
I’m not saying we won’t have issues. The Bible does not promise that, but it says in 2nd Corinthians chapter 12, “God’s grace will be sufficient”.
So, get thee up. I know life can be hard. I’ve gone through so much in my life. More than some will ever go through, and of course, less than others, but the point is if you feel discouraged, dismayed, hopeless, down or just threw with it all, please get up. People around you, or at least people that matter in this world for eternity’s sake, want to see you move forward and keep planted in that living water.
John 15:2 says “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
I pray you will choose to move forward in the Lord and be productive for the cause of Christ. This episode isn’t too much of a lesson with points but one with some spiritual and mental health uplifting help for you. Maybe you know someone that is giving up or just feeling in a rut. I pray the words of God in this episode can be an encouragement and a blessing to you or them.
Remember that God is ultimately in control.
Job 1:12 “And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.”
The devil cannot do anything to us without God’s permission. We go through rough times and even bad situations, but what you have to think about is why, what lesson am I to learn from this and have I done something to cause this. Sometimes we deserve our situations, sometimes God is just testing our faith and obedience in him. So, you see, you need to now, GET THEE UP, and move forward for the Lord. He has your back and loves you. You may say well he let the devil do so much bad to Job. Don’t forget that in the end Job finished with much more than he had in the beginning. Just trust and obey.

Depression is something that most people experience at one point or another. During this time of life, life can be hard to live. Some people attempt to hide it from others, while others have trouble coping with life situations and have trouble with everyday tasks such as personal self-care.
This book will show how the author had gone through depression for many years and teaches how he allowed his faith in God to conquer that depression in his own life. These teachings are meant to help others overcome their own depression while letting them know they are not alone in their struggle.
